5 creative ways to manage your anger

Updated: Nov 23, 2020

Dealing with anger can be hard. Finding strategies that help you cope and curb the effects of your anger can help. Remember we're all different and different strategies work for different people. I've outlined some creative ideas. 5 creative approaches to help you manage your anger in healthy positive ways.

Put pen to paper.

Jot down what you're feeling and how you would like to respond. This gives you the ability to process events after they've happened and helps you to reassess your actions going forward.

Draw or paint your anger.

Sit down with a piece of paper and find some colourful pencils or paints and just paint how you feel. Use the colours to signify what your emotions are. It's really important to realise this isn't about you painting a masterpiece it's about giving yourself a visual of how you feel inside.

Hit a ball.

Whether you pick up a tennis racket and play a game, or play golf both can help you channel your anger. If you need to cool off, a relaxing swim can help.

Sing it out.

The act of singing releases endorphins, the brain's "feel-good" chemical. Put on a track that makes you feel good and sing away.

Dance off.

Don't want to sing? Then dance. Put on the music than you love, in the comfort of your home, and dance it out.

My Tetbury office is currently shut due to COVID, however, I am currently holding counseling sessions using online video conferencing. If you need more help to curb your anger, then contact me
